Tea for Mother
Wow, it's already Saturday and we have another sensational challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow. This time it is all about CIRCLES. If you want to use it, we have a sketch for you to go with it, but the sketch is optional. Come on over and show us your card with circles. If you use a Sugar Creek Hollow image you will get two entries.
I am actually glad it is Saturday because that means only two more days before my daughter and son-in-law return from their vacation and reclaim their children. Now, don't get me wrong, I love my grandchildren dearly but 9 days of looking after a 2 year-old and a 4 1/2 year-old is really tiring at my age. We have only had a couple of meltdowns from the older one who actually acts more like a 14 year-old sometimes but we survived them. As for the little one, he is like a little sponge right now and his vocabulary is increasing in leaps and bounds but if I read about Thomas the Tank Engine one more time, I might scream.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
Aud Sentiments - Anything Goes
Crafty Purple Frog - Texture & Ribbon
Some Odd Girl - All About Moms
Stampin' B's - Mother's Day
Truly Scrumptious - Vintage
Image: Just "Pour" You (Sugar Creek Hollow)
Sentiment: Create with TLC
Card Stock: Cream (Wassau), Green (Recollections)
Paper: October Afternoon
Colouring Medium: Pencil Crayons (Prismacolors) with OMS (Taltine)
Tools & Embellishments: Sheer Ribbon (Michaels), Antique Linen & Old Paper Distress Ink (Ranger), Silver Stickles (Ranger), Pearl & Rhinestone Flourishes (Gift from an SCH Design Team Mate), Chalk (Mungyo), Circle Punches (EK Paper Shapers), Pearl Buttons (Gartner), Petite Scalloped Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Victoria Embossing Folder (Cuttlebug), Fleur de Lis Circle (My Design)

Phindy's Place First Anniversary Blog Hop
Wow, this year has flown by and the first anniversary of Phindy's Friday Challenges is already here. To celebrate, we are having a little blog hop combined with our weekly challenge.
First, the challenge this week is Paper Piecing and this is my card. The usual prizes are up for grabs so we hope you will create a fine card and enter it in the challenge. You don't have to use a Phindy image but there are so many fine reasons to use one that I urge you to run right over to the store and pick a few up. You won't be disappointed and if you do use a Phindy image, you get an extra entry.
Second, as I mentioned we are having a blog hop and you will need to pick up a word at each stop on the blog hop to create a sentence. The members of the Design Team are not showing their fine paper pieced cards on the challenge blog so you need to go to their fine blogs to get some inspiration and pick up the word they have there. When you've got the full sentence, please post it in the comments on the challenge blog, which will be hidden until the hop is over.
Here is the order for the Blog Hop and in case you get lost, you start and finish at the Challenge Blog:
Phindy's Place Challenge Blog

Ann English
Anne-Marije Poppen
Cec Wintonyk (you are here)

There is an extra prize available for the blog hop and you could win a fine $10 Voucher to use at Phindy's Place. You aren't required to leave comments at each blog, but we'd love it if you would leave some love for the DT! The hop will run until April 29, 2011 at midnight (GMT).
This week, you have THREE chances to win: the blog hop, the random winner of the challenge and the pick of the week. So what are you waiting for?

To Piece or Pierce?
This week the challenge at Delightful Challenges is Paper Piecing or Paper Piercing.
I usually don't pierce my paper unless I am doing embroidery on paper but I borrowed a great template from a friend and made some fancy corners on the mat for the image. I like the effect but I think I would like it better if I had turned the paper over but there is always next time. I wonder how long it will take my friend to miss the template.
Our sponsor for this week's challenge is our own Digital Delights by Louby Loo with a $10 store gift certificate for the random winner.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
Scrap-Creations - Digital
Papertake Weekly - Spots & Stripes
Tuesday Throwdown - Polka Dots
Craft Your Passion - Use Dots

Penny Farthings
It is another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow and our challenge this week is MONOCHROMATIC. I hope you will pop over and check the wonderful cards that the rest of the Design Team have created and if you check the details on their blogs, you will be so inspired.
I went about making this card in a strange manner. I was searching for a Sugar Creek Hollow image to use and saw the B Tag and remembered that I had the charm. Next I thought I better find something vintage to go with these two pieces and I found the little ad and it was that blue colour so that is what decided the colour I would use for the card. I did grab the colour and changed the background of the B tag to a blue although it isn't showing well in the photo.
The next task was to make the base of my flower. I had some white fabrics and needed to change them to blue. All the tutorials I found said to use re-inker or alcohol inks as dye but I don't have any so instead I painted the fabric after I cut the shapes. I didn't think they were stiff enough so I painted some fabric stiffener on each piece.
The background paper is digital paper from Raspberry Roads and I used an embossing folder on the card stock in the middle. The loopy cutouts attached to the tag are done with a Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page set. A couple of pearls and some ribbon to attach the charm and here is my monochromatic card.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
Truly Scrumptious - Vintage
Claudia & Company - Monochromatic

Bunnies and Chicks
This week the challenge at Delightful Challenges is to create an EASTER card or other paper crafted project. With Easter a week and a half away, you still have time to play in this challenge and create something to give to your family or friends.
Our generous sponsor this week is The Charm Barn and they will be giving the random winner a $15 gift certificate to their store.
This image is called Peeking Snuffles and Snuffles is meant to be a chocolate bunny. I can't eat chocolate because it doesn't like me but if I sneak a little bit, I always go for a milk chocolate so my Snuffles is a milk chocolate bunny.
We have our grandchildren (4 1/2 and 2) for a week starting on Sunday so I have already purchased a bunch of wrapped chocolate eggs to hide around the house so they can have an Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday. The trick is going to be keeping them from eating all of them or I will be handing sick grandchildren over to their parents.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
Die Cut Dreams - Easter
Stamps 'R' Us - Easter
Creative Inspirations - Easter
Sparkles Forum - Easter
Bee Crafty - Easter (must use a digi)

Bright Magic
I can't go more than a couple of weeks without playing in the challenges at Sassy Cheryl's or I experience serious withdrawal systems. This week it is all about bold & bright. I have had this Sassy image for ages and knew this was the perfect time to colour him and create a card but since time was short, it had to be pretty simple. This is going to be used as a birthday card.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Calla Lillies
It is another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow and our challenge this week is called VINTAGE EASTER.
When I found the vintage Easter postcard featuring the bouquet of Calla Lillies, I knew I wanted to use it with the Easter sentiment from Sugar Creek Hollow. Then I found the flowers in the bridal section at Michaels and I got a bit carried away but after the winter that didn't want to end, this makes me happy.
I have chalked the Easter sentiment and added a few purple Stickles and some pearls to it. I cut the filagree cross using my Cricut and added some pearls. The butterflies were punched with Martha Stewart punches, spritzed with some pearl glimmer mist and some pearls added. I added double organza bow and three pearl sprays to the bouquet (OK, so I got carried away with pearls too). Then everything was mounted on the lemon paper with a piece of lace from my stash.

Eggstra Special
Easter is only a couple of weeks away so the challenge this week at Phindy's Friday challenges is to make an Easter card or a Spring card if you don't celebrate Easter. This card is for one of my grandchildren who are both Eggstra special to me.
While you don't have to use a Phindy image to enter, you should really check out the images in her store because they are fabulous and I am sure you would love to create with them. The new Wee Babbies collection is growing each week and they are absolutely the cutest. If you do use a Phindy image, you will get two entries in the challenge and Phindy is very generous with a prize for a random winner and a prize for a top pick card, chosen by the Design Team. At the end of each month the Design Team chooses a Guest Designer from the weekly top pick cards for that month and that person gets to select an image to work with for the Guest Designer spot.

Ahoy Matey
The challenge this week at Delightful Challenges is all about Sun, Sea and Sand. I would certainly love to have some of that right now because it is only just starting to warm up here but we are expecting rain and my trip to Cuba is a distant memory.
Today the new release images are available at the Digital Delights by Louby Loo store and they are all about pirates. I have created a little scene with Presley the Pirate but I feel it isn't finished so I must issue a disclaimer because I haven't done justice to this adorable image. My hip is acting up again so sitting for long periods isn't happening right now and I could not spend more time with Presley. Since this is the third time in six months that I have been having issues, the doctor is booking an MRI but it could take another six months for that to happen, so stay tuned. In the meantime I will take pain killers, try to exercise and carry on.
The sponsor of this week's challenge is Simon Says Stamp and they are generously offering a $20 gift certificate to their store as the prize for the random winner.
The Design Team will be choosing their top three picks with the top pick getting the opportunity to be a Guest Designer.

April Sketch for Sugar Creek Hollow
It is another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow and this week we have our monthly sketch for you.
I used a combination of papers from the Cappella collection by Basic Grey along with some embossed card stock to create the panels. The sheet music that I found online is framed by a piece made with the Martha Stewart deco fan Punch Around the Page set. Then I added some lovely satin ribbon and pearls to finish it off. I think this is pretty clean but elegant.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
House of Gilli - Ribbons and Pearls
Gingerloft - Die Cuts and/or Punches

Kitchen Menu
The challenge this week at Phindy's Friday Challenges is called HUMOUR. Mrs. Comfy always strikes me as a no nonsense kind of gal so I thought this sentiment is something she would say to whoever she is cooking for. She also cooks like I do - with an adult beverage close at hand. She is a gal after my own heart :)
I am going to enter this card in ther following challenges:
