Skating
This week the challenge at Sassy Cheryl's is to use the sketch provided and make a card featuring snow. I bought this new stamp from Sassy Cheryl's shop over the Christmas holidays with a Secret Santa gift and thought it would be perfect. I also thought the timing was great since my husband is taking our five year-old Granddaughter ice skating this afternoon. She started to learn last winter and has been itching to get back at it. She is a stubborn little one and wants to practice so she can master it. She has also decided she should put her own ponytails in and worked at it for about 10 minutes the other day. There was no way she would let Grandma help her. She finally got one ponytail in but it had a bump so she pulled the elastic out and declared she was having "plain hair" that day.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
The Secret Crafter - Anything Goes with Blue
Fussy and Fancy - Let it Snow
Simply Create Too. - Layers, Layers & More Layers

Sewing Basket
Welcome to another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow. This week we have a great challenge - EMBOSSING. You can create your vintage, shabby chic or primitive card with dry or heat embossing.
Join us in saying hello to Digi Doodle Shop, a lovely new sponsor who will be providing one random winner with a $10 gift certificate from their store. The random winner will also receive a winner's badge from Sugar Creek Hollow to display on her blog. In addition the Design Team will select one project as Card of the Week and the creator of that card will receive a badge to display and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.
The Design Team has used a number of the fabulous images from Digi Doodle Shop and have created some wonderful inspiration for you.
I used this wonderful Sewing Basket image and was so intent on colouring this beauty that I forgot all about the challenge theme so my embossing is a bit lame. I love the combination of the paper and the image though because they remind me of a Grandmother or at least what I think an old fashioned Grandmother would have. I don't know if my Grandmother sewed because she died when my Mother was only 3 weeks old. I never did hear anything about my Grandmother on my Father's side. He only ever mentioned a Sister who was an actress in Poland. I think my Grandchildren are lucky because I am very much in their lives and I am trying to create good memories with them.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
Digi Doodle Shops Best - Embossing
Crafty Creations - Something New (Stamp)
Freshly Brewed - Something New (Stamp)

Tic Tac Toe at Phindy's Place
Wow, this Friday sure rolled around fast didn't it? That means it is time for another fun challenge at Phindy's Friday Challenge Blog and this week we are going to play TIC TAC TOE.
We want you to make a card using three elements from one row in the graphic below. Your row may run horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
We will choose one random winner who will receive a $5 gift certificate to Phindy's store. One entry will be selected as Card of the Week and the creator will also receive a $5 gift certificate to Phindy's store as well as being in the running for a Guest Designer spot.
You do not have to use a Phindy's image to play but if you do, don't forget to follow the instructions on the sidebar and enter it twice. If you don't have any Phindy's image, pop over to her store and pick up a few. You can see her newest image on the sidebar.
Our designers have had some fun playing Tic Tac Toe and created some great inspiration for you. Now pick a row and let's see what you can create.
For my card I have used the vertical row on the left - embossing, buttons and a die cut. This card is to welcome a new baby girl and has a personal (and confidential) message inside.

Save Some Trees
Happy New Year and welcome to our first challenge of 2012 at Sugar Creek Hollow. This week we want you to save some trees and RE-PURPOSE PAPER TOWELS, TOILET PAPER OR COFFEE FILTERS. Instead of buying some designer paper for your project, go to your kitchen or bathroom and grab one of the above items and let's see how you can transform it and incorporate it into your vintage, shabby chic or primitive card or other paper-crafted project.
This week one random winner will receive a digi of our choice and a winner's badge to display. In addition, the Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week and the creator will receive a badge and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.
Our new Design Team is in place and everyone has worked hard to create some inspiration for you. If you want details on how they re-purposed the various items, click on their names to go directly to their blogs.
I made the fluffy flower out of a basket style coffee filter and some ink from Tsukineko. I used a tutorial that I found here. I worked on a butterfly made out of a paper towel and unfortunately it didn't look very pretty when I finished it so it landed in the circular file marked "G". Is it just me or does this card look like manic vintage?
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
Inky Impressions - Anything Goes
The Paper Shelter - Anything Goes
Bearly Mine - Anything Goes
Top Tip Tuesday - Anything Goes

Colour Challenge at Phindy's Place
Happy New Year to all my blogland friends. I hope you had a lovely holiday. I know I did but was disappointed not to accomplish much in the line of crafting. We did spend time with family and friends, which is important and we also started to look for a new car for me, which is also important.
Welcome to the first challenge of 2012 at Phindy's Place. We have decided not to do our first Friday of the month challenge on a regular basis this year but will pop it into the schedule from time to time.
This week we have a color challenge for you and want you to use Brown, Teal, White and Celery or Moss as shown in the following graphic.
You don't have to use a Phindy image in your project but if you do, please follow the instructions on the sidebar and enter your card twice. If you don't have any Phindy images, I encourage you to go over to her store and pick a few up.
We will choose one random winner who will receive a $5 gift certificate to Phindy's store. The Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week. The creator will also receive a $5 gift certificate to Phindy's store and will be in the running for a monthly Guest Designer spot.
I have used Phindy's Baking Bedlam image and thought she had a bit of a vintage feel to her so I decided to go that direction with my card, especially when I found this gorgeous paper in my stash.
I am going to enter my card in the following challenges:
Inky Impressions - Anything Goes
The Paper Shelter - Anything Goes
Bearly Mine - Anything Goes
Stamp N Doodle - Anything Goes
Top Tip Tuesday - Anything Goes
TIP: If you want lots of colours of chalk and don't want to spend a fortune then head for your local art supply store and purchase soft pastels. I got a box of 64 soft pastels for the same price as a box of 9 craft chalks would have cost me at a chain craft supply store. Use a Q-Tip or cotton ball to apply.
