Penny Farthings

It is another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow and our challenge this week is MONOCHROMATIC.  I hope you will pop over and check the wonderful cards that the rest of the Design Team have created and if you check the details on their blogs, you will be so inspired.

I went about making this card in a strange manner.  I was searching for a Sugar Creek Hollow image to use and saw the B Tag and remembered that I had the charm.  Next I thought I better find something vintage to go with these two pieces and I found the little ad and it was that blue colour so that is what decided the colour I would use for the card.   I did grab the colour and changed the background of the B tag to a blue although it isn't showing well in the photo.

The next task was to make the base of my flower.  I had some white fabrics and needed to change them to blue.  All the tutorials I found said to use re-inker or alcohol inks as dye but I don't have any so instead I painted the fabric after I cut the shapes.  I didn't think they were stiff enough so I painted some fabric stiffener on each piece.

The background paper is digital paper from Raspberry Roads and I used an embossing folder on the card stock in the middle.  The loopy cutouts attached to the tag are done with a Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page set.  A couple of pearls and some ribbon to attach the charm and here is my monochromatic card.

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Truly Scrumptious - Vintage
Claudia & Company - Monochromatic
Lexis Creations - Monochromatic
Simon Says Stamp & Show - Distressing

  9. Fabulous card, Cec! I love those vintage flash cards from SCH and you paired it up great with the vintage bicycle image. Your flower is awesome - love what you did - did you find some crinoline? It looks like it.

Did you know you can use your ink pads to dye fabric with? Just smash them against a craft sheet so they leave an ink impression and then mist with water to create a puddle of dye.

Great take on the distressing challenge! So happy you joined in the fun with us this week at Simon Says Stamp and Show.
