Digital Delights Freebie Friday

It is Friday again and that means a freebie at Digital Delights and this week it is sooooo cute.  With school starting in a month, you will want to hurry over to Digital Delights and pick this up while you can.  Since my little granddaughter starts Junior Kindergarten in September, I can't wait to use this to make her a "first day of school" card, especially since I am going to be in the UK on vacation that day and am going to miss all the excitement.

Patty in Purple

The challenge at Phindy's Place is to create a project with stitching (real or faux).  I have so much on my plate right now that I didn't think I would be able to participate this week but I quickly designed a little card yesterday and took pieces of it with me when I went to Toronto that could be stitched by hand while I visited my Niece and her family.  In the past, I have tried to use my sewing machine with no success and I really don't want to damage it as I do some sewing for my granddaughter so I pierced all the holes and used embroidery floss to create the stitching.  The card feels thrown together and is not my favourite but I did like the stitching and will take a little more time and make another card soon with hand stitching on it.

I think someone should point my husband in the direction of this post so he can see that I am trying to save money and not always spending on craft supplies.  How you ask - well the flowers started out life as white with pink polka dots and I painted them rather than buying new ones.  I call it going green or re-purposing and that's my story and I am sticking to it.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Phindy's Place - Stitching
My Time to Craft - Check it Out

Fisherman

Today our challenge at Delightful Challenges is the opposite of the one for last week.  Now we want you to use two (2) designer papers and three (3) embellishments to create a card using a Great Outdoors theme. I love to embellish so even three embellishments is hard for me but I managed.  My little charm is actually some clipart from Microsoft that I printed three times on card stock, cut out and glued together with two facing one way and the other one facing the opposite way so if it flips around, there is still a fish.

I created the sentiment on the computer but the text for it came from a cross stitch pattern that I made for my late Father-in-Law almost 35 years ago.  The picture hung in his rec room until just recently when the house was sold so he obviously liked it despite the sarcastic words.

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges;

Cowgirl's Sunday Challenge - Anything Goes
Mami Doodles  - Anything Goes

SSDS - Digital
Crafty Catz  - Summertime
Daring Cardmakers - Layer it Up

Chill Out

Our challenge to you this week at Isabella's Sketchbook is to create a project using cool blues and greens.  I picked these terrific papers but when it came time to colour my flowers, I decided I couldn't do them justice in blue so I picked the deep pink in the background paper and decided to run with that.  You don't see the deep pink - well look very closely at the little tiny squares that run across the paper just above the bow -  I know it is a stretch!

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Cowgirl's Sunday Challenge - Anything Goes
Mami Doodles  - Anything Goes

Digital Delights Blogiversary Blog Hop

What a fun day today is!  Digital Delights is having a Blogiversary and to celebrate they are having two blog hop image hunts from now until Friday night at midnight.  One hop is at Digital Delights and my blog is one of the stops on the other hop at Delightful Challenges.  If you came here from Anita's blog, then you are on the right track for the Delightful Challenges hop.  If you didn't come here from Anita's blog, you should go back to Delightful Challenges and check the hop order.  I will remind you a little later in this post where you are going next so read on.

Your goal is to look for an image at each stop along the way and the image that you will hunt on my blog is Briley with Balloons! She is too cute to miss on my blog - or is she??

After you've found Briley become a follower of my blog, if you aren't already, and make a comment telling me where you think she is hiding - please refer to her by name in your comment and be specific about her location.  Comments will not appear on the blog post so your answer won't be viewed by everyone else - they will just have to figure it out themselves :)  All correct answers will be entered into a draw to receive Briley.  Check back here on Saturday, July 31st to see if you are the winner.

In addition, there will be a wonderful grand prize offered at the Digital Delights store from all the comments left at Digital Delights and Delightful Challenges.  Make sure you become a Digital Delights follower before you leave your comment there.  The grand prize will also be announced on Saturday, July 31st.

Now it is time head to your next stop on the hop, which is Dianne's blog.

I will be entering this card in the following challenges:

Make it Simple

Our challenge to you this week at Delightful Challenges is to make it simple.  You can't use any designer/patterned paper or any embellishments.  While I love to embellish, there are times when I like to create something simple but usually I add at least one embellishment, often ribbon.  I found this challenge tough but she is such a little cutie, she would look good all dolled up or very simple.  By the way, the embossed panel at the back is not gray but is silver card stock and no matter how hard I tried I could not get it to look shiny in the photo so will have to trust me.

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Stamp Something - Something Digital
One Stitch at a Time - Digital
Stampavie & More - Anything Goes
Mami Doodles - Anything Goes
Our Daily Bread - Color It

Tools & Embellishments:  Star Punch & Corner Rounder Punch (Marvy Uchida), Scallop Corner Punch (EK Paper Shapers), Swiss Dots Embossing Folder (Cuttlebug), Star Texture Plate (Fiskars), Chalk (Mungyo), Styrofoan, Star Dust Stickles (Ranger)

Tea for Three

Our challenge to you this week at Isabella's Sketchbook Challenge is to "cut it out" and use 3D, paper tole or decoupage on your project.  You must use a digital stamp from Isabella's Sketchbook on your project.  If you don't have one (or want a few new ones), Isabella is having a sale today.  For today only, Wednesday, July 21st all digital stamps at Isabella's store are only $2.00 each.

I tried something new this time and created my own tea bag holder card.  I am a little unhappy with the inside because it didn't need to be quite as deep as I made it but I will try it again.  Each one of the cups has been popped up a little higher than the one above it with foam dots, which is where the 3D aspect of my card can be found.

I will be entering this card in the following challenges:

K L Stampin 'n' Scrappin - Ribbon
Frosted Designs  - Border Punches

Sentiment:  Computer Generated
Card Stock:  Recollections (Michaels)

Christmas in July

I had so many great plans for today but the dryer died last night so after I went to the Passport office to renew our passports, I started to search for a new dryer.  Since the washer is the same age, I am buying a new one of those too.  I think I found what I want but I almost choked at the price.  It is going to cost over $2000 for the pair and I still have to add taxes, delivery and installation.  I remember when my husband and I got our first home in 1976, we paid that amount for a washer, dryer, stove, refrigerator and huge chest freezer and that included all the added charges.

Once I got back though, I did manage to quickly make a card for a few challenges.  Lots of blogs are asking for Christmas cards and I can't think of a better excuse to get another card done in advance.  Now I think I only have 45 left to do.  At this rate, a few people may not get a card this Christmas.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Sassy Cheryl's - Christmas in July
2 Sisters Challenge - Christmas in July
Fresh Brewed Designs - Christmas in July
Cute Card Thursday - Get a Head Start
Fab 'n' Funky - Christmas in July
Pixie Dust Studio - Forest Green & Cranberry

Relaxing at the Beach

There seems to be a pattern to my cards all of a sudden and I am a bit worried because it seems that I have developed a sand fetish.  This week the challenge at Delightful Challenges is to create a card or other project with a beach theme using the photo below for inspiration.  Of course when doesn't the beach have sand so I got my trusty sandpaper out of the cupboard and got started.

We hope you will enter this week because Digital Delights by Louby Loo is sponsoring and the prize is a $10 gift certificate for the store.

Now for the card.  While the photo has lots of turquoise and yellow in it, I thought some pink was needed for this little cutie.  I wanted to give her a relaxing adult beverage but she is way too young.  Just imagine her sitting on the beach waiting for some cool guy to try to pick her up - or maybe she is too young for that too.

I plan to enter this card in the following challenges:

2 Sisters Challenge - Anything Goes
Bunny Zoe's Crafts  - Summer Days
Little Red Wagon - Use a Tree
Stampavie and More - Anything Goes

Daisy Doodles Treasure Hunt

Hello me hearties, this is Cabin Gal Cec de Bois and you found my stop on a treasure hunt with Daisy Doodles.  If you follow the treasure map, you could win this brand new stamp set and a $5 gift certificate to the Daisy Doodles store

I have made a card to show you what can be done with the different elements from this stamp set.  You will find the card details below the treasure hunt information.

If you didn't start the treasure hunt at the beginning, you need to go to Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges, pick up your treasure map and the first piece of the puzzle.  Then follow the map leaving a comment and picking up a puzzle piece at each stop.  The pieces of the puzzle make a card so don't miss any stops because your goal is to determine what image is on the puzzle card and who made it.  When you get to the end, which is the Daisy Doodles store, then you will get your final instructions.  You don't want to have to walk the plank, do you?

If you came here from visiting Mary (a.k.a Boatswain Mary Read), then you are on the right track.

As you can see by the map, your next spot is at Sailing Master Law de Leon's blog (Lawren).  You have until 8 pm EST, Saturday, July 17th to collect all the pieces of the puzzle, get to the end and follow the instructions.  The winner will be announced Monday on the challenge blog.  So Mateys, leave your comment, grab your puzzle piece and off you go.
