SCH Blog Hop Winner

I hope all of you enjoyed the Sugar Creek Hollow first-anniversary blog hop and had fun hopping around and checking out the wonderful cards created by the ladies on the Sugar Creek Hollow Design Team.  Thanks for all your wonderful comments on my work.  I have chosen a random winner from the eligible comments.

The winner of the giveaway on my blog is TRACEY-GARDENOFGRACE.

Congratulations and please email me to claim your prize.

A Home Holds Hearts

It is another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow and this week we want to see SENSATIONAL STITCHING on your card or other paper crafting project.  You can do real stitching by machine or by hand or you can do faux stitching.  I have chosen to do my stitching by hand primarily because I worry about wrecking my sewing machine.  One of these days I will take a leap of faith and give it a try with my machine and I'll probably find out that it is fine.  I know it will save me a ton of time and open up the design possibilities.

Along with our challenge this week, we are having the last activity in our month-long first anniversary celebration and Tracy, the owner of Sugar Creek Hollow would like you to help her to name this image before it goes into the store.  The details about this contest can be found here.

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Paper Play Challenges - Distressing
Meljens Designs - Punches
Crafts and Me - Anything Goes
Crafty Creations - In Stitches

Sugar Creek Hollow Blog Hop & New Release

This is a really big day at Sugar Creek Hollow (and this is a really long post).  There are new stamps in the store, we are having a blog hop and we have a new challenge for you.

Let's start with the Sugar Creek Hollow challenge.  It is an easy one for you - ANYTHING GOES - and you have to love that. This week each of the Sugar Creek Hollow designers has used one of the new stamps so you really must check out their work and when you see their cards I know you will want to head over to the store to pick up one or two of the new images.

Here's my card featuring the Happy Anniversary Cake - a sentiment that has been kicked up a few notches, wouldn't you say? Sorry about the photo but the light would not cooperate so the faded black paper at the top looks a bit more faded.

Today, in addition to announcing our weekly challenge, we are having a blog hop at Sugar Creek Hollow as part of our first anniversary celebrations. All the designers have a giveaway for a winner chosen randomly from the people who leave comments on their blogs. There will be a grand prize winner chosen from the people who leave a comment on the Sugar Creek Hollow challenge blog.

The blog hop will run in conjunction with the challenge from 8:00 am EST on Saturday, March 19th to 12 midnight EST on Friday, March 25th. Comments left after the deadline will not be included in any of the draws. Winners will be announced on each blog and the challenge blog on March 26th.

To be eligible for my giveaway you must become a follower and then leave me a comment telling me which stamp in the Sugar Creek Hollow Shoppe is your favorite. In addition, if you'd like you can tell me what types of stamps you might want to see added to the Sugar Creek Hollow line of stamps. Don’t forget to leave a contact email in case you are the winner on my blog.

Here is what one random winner from the comments on my blog will receive:

1 package of 3/8" Glue Dots singles
1 package of pink pearl stickers
1 roll of ribbon
2 bundles of Wild Orchid flowers
8 unmounted flower rubber stamps from Stamp It Crazy
1 unmounted coordinating sentiment rubber stamp from Stamp It Crazy

Hopefully you have arrived here from Sharon's blog but if you are lost, here is the order of the blog hop:

Tracy
Heide
Sharon
Cec (That's Me)
Darlene
Dawn
Donna
Marsha
Mary
Nancy
Renee
Sugar Creek Hollow

We look forward to hearing your comments and to seeing your creation entered into our challenge. Your next stop is Darlene's blog.

Oh and if this isn't enough, Tracy, the wonderful and generous owner of Sugar Creek Hollow has a freebie for you to pick up for one week only when you go to the challenge blog during the blog hop.

Have Fun!

Bring on the Sun

We finally had one partial day of sun yesterday for the first time in over two weeks and now it is gone again. I want the sun to come out and stay out so the snow can melt once and for all. The temperatures are supposed to rise over the next couple of days so let's hope it doesn't rain so we can get outside and enjoy the weather.

This week our challenge at Phindy's Friday Challenges is to make a card that is all about Hot Stuff/Warm Colors/Sunshine.  When I was deciding which image I would use, I saw this little guy and he sure reminded me of summer, warm colours and SUNSHINE.

Simply Pink

As you can see I finally got to play with a Sassy Cheryl image again.  I was going into severe withdrawal.  The challenge this week at Sassy Cheryl's is to use pink and white.  I had this image already printed and thought it would fit the bill but knew I need to go fairly simple with my design.

I bet you are wondering why my lambs aren't lovely white woolly creatures but are gray.  We buy a whole lamb each year right from the farm and to be truthful they are dirty brown so I opted for something in between.

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Sassy Cheryl's - Pink & White
Aly's Sunday Challenge - Anything Goes
Creative Inspirations Paint - Animals
Gingerloft Challenge - Use Flowers
Cupcake Inspirations - Photo Inspiration

Vintage Postcard

It is Saturday again and that means a new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow.  This week we want you to try your hand at handmade flowers.  They can be punched, crochet, fabric or whatever your creative mind can come up with.

I made my flower by cutting 3 each of 3 sizes of a 9 point flower shape.  After inking both sides, I cut a slit between each point and then spritzed it with water.  Then I used an embossing tool to create a cup shape and curl the petals.  Once dry, each layer was then glued inside each other to create the flower.  Finally I painted it with a pearlized paint although it is a bit difficult to see that in this photo.

This week we have our first Guest Designer, Laney from the Cards of the Week joining us so make sure you check her card out and give her some love.  While you are at it, take a look at the fantastic cards our Design Team have created and be prepared to be inspired.

I just want to remind you that March is the Sugar Creek Hollow first anniversary.  We have blog candy for you to win (the draw will be held March 31st) and next week we have a blog hop with prizes to win at each stop on the way, followed by an image naming contest.

I am going to enter this card in the following challenge.

Crafty Purple Frog - Anything with Wings

A Spoonfull of Sugar - Vintage/Shabby

Wee Babbies

There is a new collection at Phindy's Place called Wee Babbies and all of us on the Design Team are making sample cards to show each time a new stamp is released.  Here is my card for this adorable stamp called Saddle Up and Ride, which is being released today.  If you make sure you are a follower of Phindy's Blog or her group on Paper Craft Planet, you will get notification each time a new stamp in the collection is released.  These new images are absolutely adorable and there are a great mix of girls and boys with themes that will remind you of your own kids.

I went to Calgary last week to visit relatives and took this card along to welcome the newest little cousin who was born in November.  My 4 year-old Granddaughter went with me and picked out gifts for the baby when we arrived.  We purchased two items that she said she had when she was a baby so she knew the new baby would love them.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Butterflies Galore

I am back from my trip out west to check on my Mother-in-Law.  She celebrated her 89th birthday and while her short-term memory is deteriorating, she is hanging in there physically.  I took my four year-old Granddaughter with me and she was fabulous.  She loved the planes and the hotel, didn't play shy with any of the relatives she was meeting for the first time, which made them very happy and she remembered her manners, which impressed a lot of waitresses and got her a pile of little toys.

We had at least one "I miss my Mommy" session each day but if I distracted her quickly enough, she was fine.  The ice machine on our floor at the hotel was a great distraction :)  Grandma is still exhausted but I am so glad I did it for both her and her Great Grandma and the memories they will have.

Now on to the challenge this week at Delightful Challenges.  We want you to add butterflies to your paper crafting project.

Our sponsor this week is Cutting Cafe and they are offering three digis of your choice.

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Oriental Butterfly

It is another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow and of course we have a challenge for you but today is also the launch of the month-long celebration of our first anniversary.

Let's start with the challenge. It is a sketch challenge and our hostesses have created a really clean sketch this month so I decided to go with a simple design for my take on the sketch. It almost looks like I have become a little bipolar in my crafting for Sugar Creek Hollow - last week it was over the top bling and this week it is clean and simple.

I can't wait to see what all of you do with this sketch.  It should be fun to see how many of you go with clean and simple and how many jazz it up.  By the way, this month we have a Guest Designer joining us and she starts today so make sure you make Darlene feel welcome.

Now on to the anniversary fun stuff.  As I mentioned on March 1st, we have blog candy for you starting today.  To be in the running to win the blog candy, just go to the Sugar Creek Hollow challenge blog and become a follower, if aren't already one.  Then you need to leave a comment with a contact email in case you win, grab a copy of the blog candy photo and post it on your sidebar with a link back to the Sugar Creek Hollow challenge blog.  Don't forget any of the steps or you won't be eligible to win.  Look at all these wonderful crafting supplies.  I wish I could win.

Make sure you mark your calendar so you are sure to come back each week this month to see what challenges we have planned and to participate in the fun activities, such as the Blog Hop on March 19th and the Image Naming Contest on March 26th.

As this posts, I am still in Alberta and today we are celebrating a birthday but it is my Mother-in-Law's 89th birthday, which is pretty far removed from being a one year-old.
