12 Tags of Christmas - #6

I am finally back with my next offering for the 12 Tags of Christmas - Week 6.  This fun challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Here is the tag Linda created to inspire us and once again I made a card, which is within the challenge rules.  This time I was inspired by the red (unlike many others, this is a favourite colour for me at Christmas) and the snowflakes.

I started with some cream card stock (Recollections) for the card blank.  Next I added three panels of paper from a pad called St. Nicholas (Graphic 45) that were distressed.  The edges of these panels (and all other elements) were inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink (Tim Holtz).

I cut a corner piece from some more cream card stock and punched the angled edge with a border punch (Martha Stewart), the name of which has escaped me since I have had it for so long.  Then I ran the corner panel through an embossing folder called Starry Night (Sizzix).

Next I cut snowflakes from the Paper Snowflakes Mini die (Tim Holtz) and cream card stock as well as some gold from my stash (DCWV).

To assemble the card, I stamped the word Joy (Hero Arts) using Aged Mahogany DI (Tim Holtz) onto a scrap of cream card stock and added it to the card with the snowflakes.  Adhesive pearls were added to all the smaller snowflakes and an antique jingle bell (Tim Holtz) was added with some deep red burlap string to the larger snowflake.

I am loving being able to get ahead on my cards and am trying my best to make them flat enough that I can pay regular postage.  I am winning on some and losing on others.

  1. Ooh, I love this one... I hardly ever use red, but the vintage colour tone and fabulous font here could definitely tempt me.
