Isabella's Blog Hop & Anything Goes Challenge

This is an exciting week at Isabella's Sketchbook Challenge.  First the challenge for this week is an Anything Goes challenge so you can make any kind of card that you wish but do remember that it must feature an image from Isabella's Sketchbook.  If you don't have one of her images, you can either hop over to her store and pick one of her wonderful digital images up or you can join our blog hop for a chance to win one of her images.  I would recommend that you do both:)

The Design Team is having our first ever blog hop using a special image designed by Isabella for the hop.  Once you have finished reading about the hop, scroll down and check out my card with this lovely new image.

This is a "circular blog hop" where the beginning is wherever you start!!  You will know you are at the end of the blog hop when you've come back to the blog you've started from!

There will be NINE winners who will be chosen at random from comments left on the Design Team blogs.  None of us on the Design Team will know who the winners are until the hop is over so we are going to be as anxious to find out as you will.  The hop will be open until Friday, July 2nd at 8pm and the winners  will be announced on Saturday.

Have fun and enjoy the hop! Your next hop is over to Diana's blog.  Make sure you keep hopping and leaving comments along the way (the more comments, the more chance of winning) until you've come back to where you started!

And now my card:

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Craft Catz - Let's Go Digital
Sew Many Challenges - Anything Goes

The image from Isabella's Sketchbook is called Faith-Lemons and has been coloured with Prismacolor and Koh-I-Noor pencil crayons.  The double-sided paper is appropriately called Lemon Meringue Pie from Basic Grey and the card stock is Recollections (Michaels).  Other supplies used:  Chalk (Mungyo), Lace (Wrights), Ribbon (my stash), Butterfly Punch (Martha Stewart) and Pearl Stickers (Recollections from Michaels).

The Big Cheese

After I was the top pick last week, I was anxious to make a new card for the current challenge at Phindy's Place Challenge, which calls for a 3D project.  I have had this great little image for ages and decided that if I did my best cutting, I could use it for the challenge and pop it up on my card.  I am pleased with the cutting and even managed to get the fine fringed areas around his head to look shaggy.  The kraft card stock he is mounted on is also popped up.

I bought this image called I Wuv You from  Phindy's Place and coloured it with Prismacolor and Koh-I-Noor pencil crayons.  The papers are from a Provo Craft Scrap Pack, Sandylion Sticker Designs and Lasting Impressions.  The card stock is Recollections (Michaels).  The sentiments are computer generated.  Other supplies used:  Deckle Scissors (Fiskars), Buttons (Dollarama) and Hemp Cord (Michaels).

Name The Daisy Doodles Image Contest

The owner of Daisy Doodles has drawn this wonderful image but before she can put it in her store, it needs a name.  She admits that naming her creations is not her strongest point so she wants one of you to do it for her by leaving your suggestion as a comment at the Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges Blog.  If your name is the one that she picks, you will receive the stamp as a prize after she announces the name.  You only have until Wednesday to get your suggestion in, so don't delay.

Little Sweet Pea

The daughter of our dear friends in England gave birth to a little girl last week - her first child, so of course I had to make a card.  This sweet little digital stamp is called Flowering Sweetie Pea that I picked up from Digital Delights by Louby Loo and I just loved her when I saw her.

I have included a verse inside that says:

Babies are such
a nice way
to start people.

Congratulations
on the arrival
of your little sweet pea!

I am entering this card in the challenge at Embellish Magazine  - Baby Card in Cream, Peach, Yellow and Green (trust me, this is peach although the photo is making it look a little pink)

The image has been coloured with Prismacolor and Koh-I-Noor pencil crayons.  The paper is from my stash and the card stock is from Recollections (Michaels) and Lasting Impressions.  Other supplies used:  Chalk (Mungyo), Ribbon (Kate's Paperie and Offray), Pearl Stickers (Recollections from Michaels), Lace (my stash), Fibre (my stash), Butterfly Punch (Martha Stewart) and Sentiment Tag (Dollarama).

Christmas in June

The challenge this week at Mo's Digital Challenge is to incorporate dry embossing on your card.  What a great excuse to create another Christmas card, which means I now have a total of four ready to go.  At this rate, I might have all of my cards ready by say, 2012.  I haven't been able to play with a Mo image for a while because of the trip west so I am excited that I have been able to make this card.  Because these cards have to go in an envelope, I have kept the embellishments simple.  I love my friends and family but not enough to pay additional postage to sent a very dimensional card in a box.  It is this or no card at all.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Crafty Ann's  - Embossing
Mo's Digital Challenge - Dry Embossing

The image is called Christmas Fairy Holly and can be found at Mo's store.  I have coloured her with Prismacolor pencil crayons.  The papers are from a Provo Craft Christmas Scrap Pack and Bo Bunny Press.  The card stock is Recollections (Michaels).  The sentiment is computer generated.  Other supplies used: Chalk (Mungyo), Lime Green Stickles (Ranger), Card Candy (Craftwork Cards), Peeled Paint Distress Ink (Ranger), Snowflake Embossing Folder (Cuttlebug), Nestabilities (Spellbinders) and Ribbon (Kates Paperie).

Summer Surfin

The challenge this week at Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges is to create a card with a summer theme.  I loved this surf board image from Daisy Doodles - as did other design team members so great minds do think alike :) - and decided to base my card on it.  I had fun coming up with embellishments and took inspiration from a number of the surfing photos I found online.  Since I believe most surfboards are heavily lacquered, I covered the surfboard with a layer of acetate after it was coloured.  Unfortunately the camera did not pick that up, but trust me it is very shiny.

Last week Daisy Doodles added some wonderful new members to the design team so please make sure you visit the challenge and check our their inspirational work and then submit your summer creation.  While a Daisy Doodles image is not required, there are lots of great summer images at the new Daisy Doodles store  that would be wonderful for your project, so hop on over and pick one up today.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Creative Inspirations - One For The Boys
One Stop Craft Challenge - One For The Boys
Magical Crafts Fortnightly Challenge - Something For A Male
Quirky Crafts - Summer
Stamp Something - Something Summer

This image from Daisy Doodles is called Surfboard and has been coloured with a combination of prismacolor and Koh-I-Noor pencil crayons.  The papers are Bubbles (Sandylion Sticker Designs) and sandpaper (Home Depot).  The card stock is Recollections (Michaels).  The sentiment is computer generated and created by me.  Other supplies used:  Beads (My stash), Sun Punch (Marvy Uchida), Flower Punch (EK Paper Shapers), Acetate (3M), Yellow Stickles (Ranger) and Shells (Michaels).

Bling It On

I have missed playing the Sassy Cheryl's Challenge for about three weeks and I was definitely experiencing withdrawal symptoms so I just knew I had to play this week.  Their challenge calls for making your own flowers but I decided I should also see if I could find some other challenges to play in and I found a sketch I liked that looked like you could add pearls or gems too so this is based on that sketch (I just flipped the sketch).  Then another challenge calls for beads so I just had to add those too.  Now I am a pretty tailored kind of gal and don't do a lot of bling but this is so over the top, it made me laugh.  The experts say it is good for us to laugh often during a day so I hope this makes you laugh too.

I am entering this in the following challenges:

Charisma Cardz - All About Bling
The Pink Elephant - Sketch
Crafty Ann's - Embossing (Flowers)
Little Red Wagon - Beads
Crazy 4 Challenges - Paper Flowers
Sassy Chery's - Make Your Own Flowers

The image was a generous freebie from Sassy Cheryl to her group on Papercraft Planet.  It has been coloured with a combination of Prismacolor and Koh-I-Noor pencil crayons.  The papers are from Sandylion Sticker Designs and Recollections (Michaels).  The card stock is from my local office supply store, Lasting Impressions and Recollections (Michaels).  Other supplies used:  Chalk (Mungyo), Gems (Michaels), Beads (Michaels), and Swiss Dot Embossing Folder (Cuttlebug).

Shabby Tea Room Design Team Call

There is a design team call at the The Shabby Tea Room and just for fun I thought I would make a card to enter.  The rules require a card or other project using the photo below for inspiration.

Daisy Doodles created a new stamp while I was away last week and I thought it would be perfect as the basis of my card.  The only thing missing from this wonderful little scene are some little cookies on the tiered plate but I guess Daisy was watching my waist for me.  Then I became convinced that the stars were aligned when I found the background paper with the medallions in my stash.  I think they look similar to the design on the tea pot and although they are pink and the tea pot has red markings, I thought the paper would work.

The image is called Afternoon Tea and can be purchased from Daisy Doodles store.  I have coloured the image with a combination of Prismacolor and Koh-I-Noor pencil crayons.  The paper is from the Rose Colored Glasses Collection by g.c.d. studios.  The card stock is from the local office supply store and Recollections (Michaels).  Other supplies used:  Paper Rose (Dollarama), Heart Punch (Martha Stewart), Pearl Stickers (Recollections from Michaels), Ribbon (My stash), Lace (My late mother's stash), Large Pearl Brad (Gartner), Chalk (Mungyo) and Pearlescent Ink (Tsukineko).

Honouring Father

This week the challenge at Isabella's Challenge is to create a card honouring Fathers.  I thought a clean and simple nautical theme would fit the bill.  Please check all the great cards that the other design team members have created for your inspiration and then hop over to Isabella's store and pick up one of her great digis and make something to enter into this challenge.

I am going to enter this card in the Paper Cutz challenge, which is also asking for a Father's Day card.

The image is called Sailing and has been coloured with a combination of Prismacolor and Koh-I-Noor pencil crayons.  The papers are from Sandylion Sticker Designs.  The card stock is Recollections (Michaels) and DCWV.  Other supplies used:  Lryical Letters cartridge (Cricut), Wave Scissors (Fiskars), Kitchen Twine (my kitchen) and Macrame Cord (my really old stash) and Card Candy (Craftwork Cards).

Pretty Purple

I recently won the first Whoopsie Daisy challenge and was able to choose some new sheets of Linnie's awesome stamps.  I think this little girl is just the sweetest and I had so much fun turning her into a very girlie card with flowers and ribbons and bows.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Whoopsie Daisy - Ribbon and Bows
Crafty Creations - Child's Play

The image is from Whoopsie Daisy Designs and has been coloured with a combination of Prismacolor and Koh-I-Noor pencil crayons.  The card stock and gingham paper are both Recollections (Michaels).  The other paper is from a Provo Craft Scrap Pack.  Other supplies used:  Swiss Dots Embossing Folder (Cuttlebug), Daisy Corner Punch and Branch Punch (Martha Stewart), Ribbon (Michaels and Fabricland) and Flowers (Bridal Supply Store).

Paper Cupcake

I am back from the trip to Alberta to move my Mother-in-Law into a senior's lodge.  My husband and I are totally exhausted but feel good because we managed to get her packed and moved, her room set up with some new pieces of furniture, lots of family photos and some petit point on the walls and then her house totally emptied - all in 5 1/2 days.  The hard part was going through years and years of stuff to ensure that we didn't throw anything out that should be saved.  In the process we found some interesting things, such as magazines from the early 1950s and some really odd things, such as 11 plastic juice containers and close to 100 plastic margarine tubs.  People of her generation don't want to waste anything so needless to say she was pretty upset with me when I threw food out the morning of the move.  Of course it was all partial packages and you can't give it to anyone but she couldn't see that - if it was good enough for her, it should be good enough for anyone.  At the end of it all, we breathed a sigh of relief because she is so much safer than she was by herself and it turns out she had already seen 10 people she knew so now she will have more company.

Since I came home late Saturday night, I have been catching up on all the things I should have done last week and was finally able to sit down and craft a bit this afternoon.  I had started this card before I left but when I went to finish it today, I found my mojo had taken a hike and I struggled to embellish it.  In the end, I decided the cleaner looking the better so the image would stand out.  I have always wanted to try my hand at paper-piecing and thought this image from Daisy Doodles new store would be perfect for my first attempt.  The image is part of Card Kit #3.  The whole image has been paper pieced, including the little green stem and while I think it turned out well, I am not sure that it is one of my favourite techniques.  By the way, all the gourmet cupcakes that you see cropping up are covered in icing so that is how I did mine but Daisy intended the band above the cupcake liner to be actual cake.  Of course, how you do your cupcake is your choice.

I am going to enter this card in the following challenge:

Stampavie and more - Dots

The image is called Cupcake.  The papers used are from a couple of Provo Craft Scrap Packs and the card stock is Recollections (Michaels).  Other supplies used:  Card Candy (Craftwork Cards), Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Ribbon (Fabricland) and Ink (Color Box).

Sketch for Isabella

As I mentioned earlier, I am away this week and won't be able to approve your comments until my return on June 12th but please feel free to leave them because I enjoy reading them very much.

This week at Isabella's Challenge we have been asked to follow a sketch and here is my project.  I was having trouble with camera so it may be a little difficult to see that the wide ribbon is a very dark brown.  While I love this colour combination, I must admit that I really wanted to see what brown pearls on the pink scalloped oval to provide a bit of contrast would look like, but I couldn't find any in the only local craft store I have and there wasn't time to order them from an online store.  If you think they would have added something to the design, close your eyes and pretend they are there and then let me know what you think.

The image from Isabella's Sketchbook is called Sweetheart Flower and has been coloured with a combination of Prismacolor and Koh-I-Noor pencil crayons.  The paper is from my stash and the card stock is Recollections (Michaels).  Other supplies used: Chalk (Mungyo), Ribbons (Fabricland), Pearl Stickers (Recollections), Pearl Brads (Gartner), Nestabilities (Spellbinder) and Border Punch (Martha Stewart).

Father's Day at Daisy Doodles

Father's Day is fast approaching and Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges has challenged us all to make Father's Day cards.  Now that Daisy's new store is open, there are a number of new images available and this sailboat is part of the Summer Fun release and perfect for a card for a man, don't you think?

I am away this week moving my 88 year-old Mother-in-:Law into a senior's lodge.  This is going to be a really tough week for her and by extension, for us too but it is time and we will feel more comfortable about her safety.  She lives 2000 miles away, so we can't check on her daily as we would like to.  During this time I won't have a computer and therefore won't be able to approve your comments as you make them but I will be sure to do that when I return on June 12th so please feel free to leave them because I enjoy reading them very much. Besides, I know I will need some loving after the stress of this week.

The image has been coloured with Prismacolor pencil crayons.  The papers are from Sandylion Sticker Designs and my stash.  The card stock is also from my stash.  The sentiment was created by me on the computer.  Other supplies used:  Chalk (Mungyo), Card Candy (Craftworks Cards), Sun Punch (Marvy Uchida), Water Drops Texture Plate (Fiskars) and Yellow Stickles (Ranger).
