Inspired By A Photo

This week we have a super challenge for you at Sugar Creek Hollow. We want you to make a vintage, shabby chic or primitive card that is INSPIRED BY A PHOTO. You get to choose the photo and then create your card based on that photo.

Here is the photo that inspired me.

We would love to see your beautiful creations and don't forget to show the photo that inspired you in your blog post along with your card.

One random winner will receive a digi of our choice and a winner's badge to display. In addition, the Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week and the creator will receive a badge and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.

I had so much fun with this card. The bird cage was cut with my Cricut from Kraft card stock and then painted with some gold paint. Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow

Welcome to another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow and a new challenge for you. This week we want you to use the following SKETCH with an added challenge.

Because we are a vintage, shabby chic and primitive challenge blog we discourage "cute" cards with "cute" images but this week we are going to let you pull out a cute image and want to see how you can turn it into one of the three styles we do want to see. You will notice that our designers have done just that with these adorable images from our new sponsor, Inked Treasures.

This week Inked Treasures who will be providing 3 images from the Inked Treasures store as a prize for one random winner. That winner will also receive a winner's badge from Sugar Creek Hollow to display on her blog.

The Design Team will select one project as Card of the Week and that creator will receive a winner's badge and will be in the running for a monthly Guest Designer spot.

Our designers have worked their magic to create some wonderful inspiration for you.  To get the details, just click on their name and you will be taken directly to their blog.

I was running really late this week and my brain turned to mush in the hot Aruban sun (but the vacation was fabulous) so this is as vintage as I could get this week but I am sure all of you will do a much better job.

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Crafty Creations - Warm & Cuddly Teddy Bears
My Time to Craft - Bring on the Cake

Bling It On

It is time for a new challenge at Phindy's Friday Challenges and this week we want to see lots of BLING on your card so dig out the jewels and gems and start creating.

You don't have to use a Phindy image in your project but if you do, please follow the instructions on the sidebar and enter your card twice. If you don't have any Phindy images, run right over to the store and pick a few up.

We will choose one random winner who will receive a $5 gift certificate to Phindy's store. The Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week. The creator will also receive a $5 gift certificate to Phindy's store and will be in the running for a monthly Guest Designer spot.

The Design Team has come up with some wonderful inspiration for you. To get the details, click on their name and you will be taken directly to their blog.

When I think bling, I picture a bit gaudy and over the top and this card is all that. I am such a plain person and could not see me wearing lots of diamond jewellery so bling isn't in my vocabulary. Mind you, if I had more money at my fingertips, I suppose I could bring myself to wear flashier jewellery than I do now. I don't suppose anyone has a winning lottery ticket they want to send me :)

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Inky Impressions - Use Punches or Dies
Penny's Paper Crafty - Anything Goes
One Stitch At A Time - Anything Goes

Masculine Valentine

The challenge this week at Sugar Creek Hollow is to make a MASCULINE VALENTINE in a vintage, shabby chic or primitive style.

One random winner will receive a digi of our choice and a winner's badge to display. In addition, the Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week and the creator will receive a badge and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.

Our Design Team has created gorgeous cards for your inspiration and if you would like the details, just click on their name to be taken directly to their blog.

I really struggled with this one because everything that popped into my head was flowery or girly and many of the vintages images I found online were geared towards women or children. After two days (yes, 2) I finally had this idea so I hope you like it. I hope my husband likes it too because it is going to be given to him.

Round & Round in Circles

The challenge this week at Phindy's Friday Challenge Blog is ROUND & ROUND so we want to see lots of circles.

This was a great challenge for me because I got to use up some scraps and you all know how many bits and pieces we manage to accumulate so it is always great when we can reduce the pile.

This is a scheduled post because I am just finishing up a week's vacation in Aruba. I hope when I return I can tell you all about the great sunshine we had. I know we will have a good time because are visiting neighbours who have a house there and they are lovely people.  She is a very good cook so I hope I don't come home with added pounds.

Vacation at the Beach

Welcome to another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow. This week we have a fun challenge for. We want you to make a vintage, shabby chic or primitive card that depicts a VACATION AT THE BEACH.

When we designed this challenge we assumed that everyone in North America, the UK and parts of Europe would be in the throes of winter and would be looking forward to something warm. Well it is cold and snowy in many places but there sure is some odd warm weather happening in others. Nevertheless, we think many of you would enjoy a vacation at the beach right about now.  I know I would so I am leaving for a week in Aruba tomorrow.  Our neighbours have a house there and invited us down.  We are earning this trip though because we are looking after their house (including the birds and plants) for the whole winter.

One random winner will receive a digi of our choice and a winner's badge to display. In addition, the Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week and the creator will receive a badge and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.

Our Design Team has created wonderful cards with a beach theme and it is so much fun seeing how different they are. If you want the details on their cards, just click on their name and you will be taken directly to their blog.

Sassy Cheryl's 100th Challenge

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Blog has reached a milestone - 100 challenges - and I decided to join the party. I couldn't imagine a better image to use than Sassy Sally because she's already in the party mood.  The challenge there is Punches & Shimmer.  I know you can easily see the punches and trust me when I tell you there is also shimmer but no matter how hard I tried, I could not get it to come up in the photo so I have added some sparkle brushes to show where some of it is.  The pompom on the top of her head and all the confetti has been coloured with a Copper Gel Pen, the dots on her skirt have been coloured with an Iridescent Gel Pen and I added a Clear Gel Pen over the paper streamers.  In real life there are lots of shimmery spots.

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Fab 'n' Funky - Use a Digi
My Mum's Craft Shop - Fab and Funky
Whimsical Wednesdays - Something Old (Candle Paper has been in my stash for at least 3 years)
Crafty Sentiments - Punches and/or Dies
Sassy Cheryl's - Punch and something shimmery
There's Magic in the Air - Photo Inspiration
