Just My Type

It is time for the new challenge at Frilly and Funkie.  Jenny is our hostess for this one and is calling it Just My Type.  Here is what she has to say about it.

As a trained touch typist I love vintage typewriters. I love the way they look and sound and the font they create. For this challenge create a vintage or shabby chic project and include a typewriter, typewriter keys, typeface.

The theme of this challenge was great for me because I needed to make a birthday card for my husband and the theme really sounded masculine.  Unfortunately masculine doesn't really make me think flowers and lace so this card is not very frilly but then neither is my husband. 😃😃  Here is how to put this clean and simple card together:

1.  Distress a panel of paper from the Memoranda paper pad (Tim Holtz), distress the edges and ink with Vintage Photo Distress Ink (Tim Holtz).  Adhere background panel to the card blank.
2.  Cut a chevron from another patterned paper from the Memoranda pad, distress and ink it before adding on top of the background.
3.  Rub the Vintage Photo Distress Ink pad over the high spots on a piece of white corrugated cardboard and add it next.
4.  Make a chevron from white burlap and add on top of cardboard.
5.  Cut typewriter ad from the paper pad.
6.  Add Sunshine Yellow, Espresso and Ginger Alcohol Ink (Tim Holtz) to one side of a piece of acetate.
7.  Run acetate through a Bubbles Texture Fade (Tim Holtz), adhere on top of typewriter ad and add to card.  Note:  The bubbles don't show in the photo but I bet if I had used stiffer plastic packaging material, they would have been more pronounced.
8.  Print sentiment on computer, cut into chevron and distress and ink edges.
9.  Add sentiment on top of ad and then add paper doll to finish card.

I hope you will join us for this challenge. If you do, you have a chance to be the random winner of a $25 gift certificate to go shopping at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. The Design Team will chose their top picks and the overall winner will receive an invitation to be a Guest Designer at a future date.
